Happy Riders Warm Our Hearts; More Rides Today

Wednesday, 9:50am: We will provide free rides again this afternoon to commuters stranded by the strike — there is more information on that below — but first…

Yesterday, the #BARTstrike left highway on-ramps across the Bay Area choked and thousands of people waylaid, many waiting hours for a ride home.

We knew we had to help, so we sprang into action by adding extra shuttle capacity and offering commuters free rides between SF and the East Bay.

We received a wonderful response from riders and wanted to take a moment to share a day in the life at RidePal:

“I’m on an AMAZING free ride home from SF thanks to @RidePal, my new BFF! #bartstrike” — Missy Longshore (@mflongshore) July 2, 2013

Yesterday was incredibly rewarding and great validation of the power of better commuting options.

We are privileged to do what we do and will continue working to make a safer, happier, more productive commute available to everyone.

So drive less, live more, and thank you!

Here is what we’re doing today:

  • 4:30pm: The shuttle will make its first pickup in SF on the west side of Beale Street between Howard and Folsom, taking riders to spots in the East Bay based on demand.
  • We will continue making roundtrips across the Bay Bridge as frequently as possible; yesterday each roundtrip took ~1 hour, but traffic conditions today may vary.
  • 8:30pm (approximately): The shuttle will make final trip to the East Bay.

(The shuttle can only accommodate 2-3 bicycles per trip.)

Please monitor @RidePal for updates.
